Development Assessments - An outside, objective review of an organization’s overall fundraising program can help identify outdated strategies and new opportunities or areas that need attention. A Maranville and Associates’ Development Assessment includes a thorough analysis of administrative policies and procedures, staffing, computer operations, direct mail, donor development and recognition and prospect/donor relationship building.
IIn many cases, Maranville and Associates will recommend a part-time or full-time on-site campaign director to manage the campaign. Key elements we address include the campaign timetable; recruitment and training of campaign leadership; prospect identification, analysis and solicitation; public relations; and pledge monitoring.
Whether your organization is large or small, Maranville and Associates will tailor an effective capital campaign strategy that will reach your goal. A key difference in our approach is that our consultants don’t just train volunteers and send them out to make campaign calls. Maranville and Associates’ consultants personally participate in the solicitation of major gift prospects. This significantly raises the comfort level of campaign solicitors.
Feasibility/Marketing
Studies – This
is an essential tool for determining the feasibility of a campaign
goal and creating an effective campaign plan. Maranville
and Associates’ feasibility/marketing studies are thorough
and include personal interviews with staff, major donors, corporations,
community leaders and individual philanthropists.
The study will present your project’s case for support to
those key individuals whose enthusiastic endorsement of your campaign
is vital to the success of the project. The resulting study
report will give your organization an accurate picture of its public
perception and the viability of mounting a capital fundraising
campaign.
Endowment Building – An endowment is a fund set aside for a specific purpose according to the donor’s intent. Usually only the interest can be spent with the principal remaining intact. Today, many organizations rely on interest from the endowment(s) to augment regular fundraising activities.
Endowments can be built up by many small gifts made over time or increased in a short timeframe through an endowment campaign. Endowment campaigns have the same basic structure as bricks and mortar campaigns. However, most endowment campaigns gratefully accept gifts made through a donor’s will or trust or through another type of planned gift. Maranville and Associates can assist you in building your endowment by creating and implementing strategies designed according to the age of your organization, depth of your donor base and other pertinent factors.
Maranville and Associates will help you develop a program that will maximize the personal benefits of your donor’s charitable gifts.
Major Gift Development – Time and resources must be devoted to major gift development if the program is to become an iimportant part of an organization’s total fundraising effort. Top volunteers and staff can be very effective in soliciting major gifts if they know whom to ask, how to ask, when to ask and how much to ask for.
Maranville and Associates will guide your volunteers and staff through the preparation process prior to soliciting major gifts, and will actually assist in the solicitation process if it is appropriate to do so. Whether you decide to launch a major gifts campaign with a specific goal and timeframe, or opt to solicit major gifts over the long term, your organization must be viewed by donor/prospects to be worthy of their generosity. Maranville and Associates will provide an objective view of your readiness to solicit major gifts by assessing the perceived value of your services to the community. If changes or improvements are warranted, we will make specific recommendations designed to prepare your organization to solicit major gifts.
Planned Giving – Many organizations are emphasizing planned giving to meet the financial needs of their donors and to enlarge gift-giving opportunities. Making a planned gift often enables a donor to make a much larger gift than he or she thought possible because planned gifts are given beneficial treatment under both state and federal law.
Planned gifts such
as charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, life estates,
insurance policies, and gifts by will can produce important new
sources of support and attract larger gifts for your
organization.
The problem many organizations share is
not having an effective plan in place to reach donors to inform them of the
benefits of making a planned gift.
Maranville
and Associates can create a cost-effective planned giving program tailored
to your specific situation. With the emphasis on relationship building,
Maranville and Associates will help implement strategies that will reach out
to your donor/prospects
and provide opportunities for personal contact with them. We can
tutor your staff and, if appropriate, provide on-going planned giving services.
